OMGossip is a playful messaging service with one job: take the everyday news you'd share with friends and deliver it as an anonymous SMS written in the breathless, over-the-top style of a 2000s gossip columnist. It's a birthday surprise, an engagement announcement, a harmless roast at your best friend's expense — dressed up as the scandal of the season. Here's exactly what happens between you typing the tea and your friends' phones buzzing.
1. Spill the tea
Write your gossip the way you'd text it to a friend — plain, unpolished, straight from the group chat. "Maya got the internship." "Jake and Priya are back together." That's all we need. Messages are capped at 500 characters, because a good rumor is a short one.
2. The AI makes it scandalous
Our AI rewrites your message in the voice of a certain anonymous Upper East Side blogger — dramatic, playful, and signed off with the trademark XOXO. You see a preview before anything is sent, you can edit the result by hand, and you can regenerate it until the drama is just right. Nothing goes out until you approve it.
3. Pick your audience
Choose recipients from your contact circle — the friends whose numbers you've added yourself. Free members can send each gossip to up to 5 recipients; Premium members can blast up to 50. You confirm the final message and the exact recipient list before sending.
4. Delivered by SMS, anonymously
The message arrives as a real text from OMGossip's number, not yours. Recipients see the gossip, not the gossiper. Every message identifies our service and ends with opt-out instructions, and you can track delivery status for every recipient in your history.
The house rules
A gossip service only stays fun if it can't be used to hurt people. These are the guardrails we build into every message:
Consent and opt-out, always
Every SMS we send identifies OMGossip and includes "Reply STOP to opt out." When someone replies STOP, they are permanently unsubscribed — no one can send them gossip through us again, ever. Replying HELP gets assistance. We follow U.S. carrier messaging rules (A2P 10DLC), and our number and campaign are registered and verified with carriers.
Anonymous, not lawless
Recipients don't see who sent a message — but senders are real, verified accounts, and every gossip is tied to the account that wrote it. Harassment, threats, hate, and impersonation are against our terms and get accounts suspended. Anonymity here is for playful mischief between friends, not for hurting people.
Built-in speed bumps
Rate limits keep the drama fun instead of overwhelming: free members get 5 gossips per week, and there's a cooldown between sends. Limits like these are also how we keep spammers out, which keeps deliverability high for everyone else.
Your data stays yours
Contact numbers you add are used only to deliver the messages you send. We never sell them, and no mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The full details live in our privacy policy.
Free vs. Premium
The free tier is the full experience: write, transform, preview, and send — with a short ad before each transformation, up to 5 recipients per gossip, and 5 gossips per week. Premium removes the ads entirely, raises the ceiling to 50 recipients per gossip, and gives your messages priority delivery.
